    Victoria Ford, MA, LPC

Whether you are looking for support while you make significant life changes, need help managing emotions and developing coping skills, or just need a trustworthy listening ear, I would be honored to work with you on making positive progress in your life.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and specialize in treating anxiety and mood disorders, as well as trauma and stress disorders.  I also have experience providing couples counseling services.  I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and my Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Geneva College.

I have been a therapist for the past 3 years and my background includes working in both family-based programs and outpatient facilities.  I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which I utilize to help clients manage their presenting problems by identifying and changing the way they think.  My goal is to help each of my clients feel confident in their ability to confront their negative thoughts, challenge and reframe them, and allow for positive emotions and behaviors to take root.

My therapeutic approach aligns with the principles of Person-Centered Therapy, meaning I believe it is important for each client to feel respected and understood to be the expert of their lives.  My clients can expect to be treated as a unique individual, their independence and privacy valued, and for their choices and rights to be respected.

It is important to me to hold space for a natural rapport to be built with my clients to better allow for trust to develop.  I believe this is a crucial step in order for therapeutic change to occur.  I look forward to creating a strong therapeutic alliance with you and work to make positive changes in your life.

“I have come to realize that being trustworthy does not demand that I be rigidly consistent but that I be dependably real.” – Carl Rogers
