    How much does therapy cost?  Do you take insurance?

    Yes, we are in network with most commercial insurance plans.  Check out our RATES & INSURANCE page to find out more about your investment for services.

    Do you offer in-person sessions?

    Yes!  We have in-person sessions available at our office in Hershey, PA.

    Do you offer online sessions?

    Yes!  We have online counseling sessions available through secure video that you can access from your phone, tablet or computer.

    What if I don’t “click” with my therapist?

    We have multiple professional therapists here at Tice Counseling & Wellness.  If, by chance, you do not feel a connection with your current therapist, let the office know and we can schedule you with another therapist that can meet your needs.

    What’s the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

    A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation provokes a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

    Why shouldn’t I just take medication?

    Medication can be effective but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with counseling. Our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing and expand on your strengths that can help you accomplish your personal goals.

    How does it work? What do I have to do in sessions?

    All you have to do is be yourself. Sometimes it is helpful to attend your therapy appointment with 1-3 topics to talk about. We can assist you in coming up with ideas of what to talk about if that would help you feel more comfortable. Because each person has different issues and goals for counseling, sessions will be different depending on the individual. We tailor our therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

    How long will it take?

    Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place. We will have frequent conversations with you about your goals and your expectations about the amount of time invested.

    I want to get the most out of therapy. What can I do to help?

    We are so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions! Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success. If we could offer a few pieces of advice before getting started, they would be: Our beliefs are very powerful. Believe you are capable, believe that therapy can help, and believe in your body and mind’s ability to heal, no matter the present circumstances. Have patience for yourself and the process, and have compassion towards yourself as you enter into the brave journey of self-exploration.
