Kim Weidman-Janak, MA Ed., LPC, NCC

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the Pennsylvania State University and my master’s degree in counseling from Virginia Tech. I am currently licensed in the states of Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Additionally, I have been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, and certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I am currently exploring and learning in the world of hypnosis to be able to add another level to client care.

My approach to counseling is from a holistic perspective incorporating care for the mind, body, and spirit.  I hold the fundamental belief that through the mind-body connection, one has the power to create balance, providing wellness.

As a psychotherapist I support a client’s innate desire for growth, self-knowing, and empowerment. Using the holistic model of healing, we will explore the whole person; mind, body and spirit and seek to regain the balance that has been lost. Services are strength-based, eclectic and personalized in a collaborative process. From the initial assessment and throughout treatment I encourage and guide clients in self-discovery from the inside out.

The majority of my work experience is with the Veterans Administration where I have worked with multiple issues including CPTSD, depression, anxiety, substance use, and relationship problems. My experience covers all levels of care, from outpatient to acute care.

I believe my approach to be warm, respectful, and collaborative. Although I use an integrative approach attuned to your needs, my guidance is heavily influenced by EMDR therapy, mindfulness, and somatic movement.
