Depression Therapy in Hershey

It’s Hard To Look Ahead When You Feel Stuck In The Past

Are you constantly replaying all your regrets, missed opportunities, or past mistakes?

Have you been weighed down by a prolonged sense of hopelessness or disconnection that you can’t seem to shake?

Do the activities and interactions that usually bring you joy and excitement no longer feel meaningful?

Perhaps you’re simply going through the motions of your day-to-day life without feeling fully present and grounded. Something just feels off—your low mood leads you to feel emotionally drained and disconnected from your loved ones, and you find yourself saying “no” to opportunities because fostering the motivation to try something new feels too overwhelming. As a result, maybe you’re wondering if you have depression and thinking it’s time to get some extra support.

Every Step Feels Like You’re Still Standing In Place

It seems like the more you try to “snap out of it,” or gain any sense of normalcy, the more mentally exhausted you feel. And seeing those around you taking the steps to accomplish their goals, reach new heights, and foster genuine connections in their relationships can be alienating when you feel so stagnant and disconnected—like life is moving forward for everyone else, while you’re just standing there, stuck in place.

Maybe you’re growing tired of feeling persistent sadness, hopelessness, and overwhelm—often wondering if there’s anything that can be done to find relief. For the first time, you may be considering therapy for depression.

If this is the case, then you’ve come to the right place. At Tice Counseling & Wellness, it’s our mission to help you reduce your depression symptoms and take back your joy and confidence, leading to a life of deeper meaning and purpose.

Depression Can Affect Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime

Life is hard. In today’s world, we all feel pressure to keep up with the hustle and bustle of our financial, social, and personal goals and responsibilities. Not surprisingly, trying to balance all these demands can quickly lead to burnout. And where there’s burnout, depression is usually quick to follow.

The trouble is that depression can take hold of us no matter your age, ethnicity, financial circumstances, or societal and cultural background. In fact, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, an estimated 21 million adults in the U.S. aged 18 and older have suffered from at least one major depressive episode.

In spite of how common the condition is, depression can be incredibly isolating, leading you to believe that you’re the only one who’s going through this experience. While you may think that nobody understands how to help you, seeing a therapist who specializes in depression treatment can shed light on your unique experience—making a meaningful difference in your mood, emotions, and outlook on life.

Tice Counseling & Wellness Offers Compassion And Connection In Therapy To Help You Overcome Depression

Depression isn’t a character flaw or something you can just will away and wish to subside. The experience takes a toll on your mind, body, and spirit in complex ways that are unique to every individual.

The good news, however, is that you don’t have to walk alone on your healing journey.  At Tice Counseling & Wellness, we know how heavy depression can feel and how challenging it can be to work through. That’s why we provide a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore the roots of the heavy emotions you’ve been feeling and develop practical tools to help you reclaim your peace and happiness.

The counselors in our practice believe that healing from depression does not mean that you will never feel sadness again—it means that you have the power to no longer let those feelings control your life. We offer a compassionate, heart-centered approach to therapy by helping you understand where your depression stems from, so that we can work through these challenges together.

What To Expect In Depression Therapy Sessions

We usually begin with an intake session to get to know one another and collaborate on developing a therapeutic plan. Our goal is to individualize your experience in therapy to best fit who you are.

We’ll help you find greater clarity, understanding, and hope for the road ahead. Our counselors use a wide range of evidence-based approaches when it comes to depression treatment, some of which are listed below.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you discuss your challenges and identify the negative thought patterns that keep you stuck, enabling you to shift your mindset and achieve a more positive outlook
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) teaches mindfulness practices and emotional regulation skills that will help you stay grounded and present, even in moments when life feels overwhelming.
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) helps you challenge your distorted thoughts and build practical coping skills that help you re-engage with the activities that bring you joy and relief.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy uses gentle stimulation techniques like tapping and side-to-side eye movements      to help you process any past trauma that may be contributing to your depression.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy gives you the chance to discover, explore, and nurture the different individual “parts” of yourself, so that you can build self-compassion and self-awareness.
  • Art Therapy offers a wide range of nonverbal, artistic mediums—such as drawing, painting, or sculpting—to help you regulate your nervous system and reconnect with your sense of joy.

Over time, we hope to provide you with newfound motivation, balanced emotional regulation, increased energy, and stronger relationships with both yourself and others. With the right support, therapy makes it possible to feel more present, more hopeful, and more like yourself again.

Common Concerns About Depression Therapy…

I’ve tried to heal from depression with therapy before and it didn’t help.

Sometimes, the situation, timing, and circumstances in which you try therapy just aren’t the right fit. At Tice Counseling & Wellness, we believe that a significant aspect of healing from depression depends on the connection that you share with your therapist. This is why we do everything in our power to get to know you for who you are by pairing you with a therapist who understands your struggles and tailors their approach to your life. Together, let’s build a path toward relief that’s designed just for you.

I’m afraid people will look at me differently for going to depression therapy.

You don’t have to be afraid of people viewing you differently, because they’ll be seeing you in a fresh, new light! Therapy is designed to help provide you with the support you need to lift the weight of depression off of you so that you can feel lighter, happier, and more motivated to spend time with the things and people you love.

It’s also confidential, so nothing revealed in session will ever be disclosed to anyone. You’ll always be in charge of whether or not you decide to tell people about your time spent in therapy.

Therapy might be too expensive for my budget right now.

Our team knows how financial problems can get in the way of self-care and healing. This is why we accept insurance and will work with you to schedule sessions at a frequency that best fits your budget. The last thing we want to do is put more stress on your shoulders, so we try to make the payment process as easy as possible.
