Lauren Thompson, MS, LAPC
My goal as a therapist is to create a space where clients feel seen, heard, and accepted without judgment. Curiosity is my superpower. I approach our work together with openness and compassion, helping clients explore the reasons behind their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so they can begin to see themselves through a more compassionate lens. Change is always possible. I believe our brains are capable of learning new ways to cope, heal, and respond to stressors. I believe in meeting clients where they are and keeping their goals and needs at the center of our work together.
I work with individuals ages 16 and older who are seeking support in navigating obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety, depression, substance use, trauma, and other mental health concerns. My work with substance use not only includes supporting individuals in their recovery, but also supporting family members and loved ones as they navigate the challenges that can come with a loved one’s substance use.
I often utilize techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Narrative Therapy, Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) and more. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP).
I received my Bachelors degree in Behavioral and Addictions Counseling from Elizabethtown College, and then went on to receive my Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from Elizabethtown College as well. I have worked in inpatient settings with individuals experiencing co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns, as well as in partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. I am a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and am currently working toward full clinical licensure.
